comp.unix.sco Administrative FAQ  by (various)
- This used to be a SCO Unix faq. I've updated a lot of it to include Linux and other info, but some of it may be strictly of interest to SCO users (or those migrating from it).

No Wizards Here
- I do a little Unix and Linux programming, support, troubleshooting and Web stuff. I sell and support Kerio mailservers, firewalls, voip and collaboration tools.

Contact Info
- IF YOU DON'T GET A RESPONSE - Either your email went into spam on my server or my email got rejected by yours. CALL ME IF THAT HAPPENS - 774 213-1199.

Index by Date
- I started this web site late in 1997. At that time, it was mostly related to SCO Unix, even though I was doing Linux and other Unix OSes at that time.

Javascript Bit Twiddler
- This is a Javascript program. If you don't have Javascript enabled, or if your browser doesn't support Javascript, you won't see anything but this message. If you have a really old browser, you'll see a bunch of junk.

Javascript Bit Twiddler II
- This is a Bit Twiddler. Click the bits at the top of the page on or off to see the values. Or type a value into the boxes. You can apply bit operations to the two top values and see the results in the third set.

Javascript Calendar
- This is a Javascript calendar program. It displays a current calendar if no arguments are passed and highlights the current day.

Qume Serial X-Terminal
- The Qume QX15 may be an answer. Priced at $699.00, the QX15 provides a standard serial terminal that also has the ability to run (monochrome) X-Windows. As a normal terminal, it is a plug in replacement for any Wyse 60, VT220 or PC Term terminal. No Ethernet cabling is used; it plugs directly into standard RS-232 wiring. It has the typical features that you would expect on a modern terminal: Two Serial & one Parallel ports, 101, 102 or ANSI keyboards, and so on. What is unexpected (if you weren't aware of the X capabilities) is a mouse port, and a mouse driven setup screen.

about- search body of man pages
- Unix Programs: about, searches body of man pages for text. Helps find man pages when apropos cannot.

bfind.c- Finds which file contains a block
- This finds or prints the inode blocks - that is, it can find the inode a block is from or show the blocks an inode uses.0

cpdos- Dos Shell Script Helper
- Unix Programs: cpdos (Shift-click on link if you don't get a save-as dialog)

lp driver- debugging parallel driver
- Includes ioctl calls to examine & set driver variables. You can speed it up, slow it down, and generally tune it to the conditions at hand.

lp driver include file
- This is the include file referenced in the sample Unix parallel port driver code.

lp driver ioctl program
- Unix Programs: LP Driver ioctl program. C code to accompany the sample SCO Unix driver example.

showmem- shows contents of memory pages
- Unix Programs: showmem script dumps memory from /dev/mem to show contents of dual ported ram

KCMENU Kevin Clark's menu generator
- Many years ago Kevin Clark wrote a nice little menu generator for SCO systems. You can download it from here.

Linux|Unix Kernel
- If this is the only book you are going to buy on internals, don't bother. It's a little weak, a little confusing, and just not all that well done.

Managing IP Networks
- This book is really more about managing IP networks in general than it is about Cisco routers specifically. I'd guess much more than half of the book would apply no matter what brand of routers you were using.

new to SCO
- General overview of what you need to know if you have come across on old SCO Unix box

Lost Root Password
- How to fix a lost root password on various versions of SCO Unix and SCO Xenix and how to fix a missing /etc/passwd file.
