(SCO systems also have hd)
Octal dump (SCO Hex Dump). Very useful when you aren't sure just what it is you are looking at:
od -c suspectfile | more
is safe for your teminal no matter what's in there.
Many systems have "hexdump" and od is link that assumes flags asking for octal representation. It's worth checking the man page, as hexdump has more features. SCO's "hd" looks much like "hexdump -C".
