Steve Gibson is a great guy who has contributed a LOT over many years. I used his "Spinrite" program years ago to avoid hard drive problems, but more recently Steve mostly concentrates his efforts in the Security area.
I think Steve's comments about why Microsoft does things have some truth to them. Features that might be useful in some coprporate environments can be downright dangerous for small business and home users. DCOM is a pretty good example of that.
