I had carped about Microsoft Updates before, and while I don't think Microsoft was listening to me, they are listening to someone, because now they are apparently considering pushing updates down to you automatically:

That is, of course, a thought that should cause you to hesitate. There is a potential for harm, but what raises my antennae is the idea that some rambunctious legislators will get the idea that you ought to be forced to do this, and not allow any way to shut them out.
More reason to run Linux, I think. If they will let us do that, of course.
