Lost root password, what's next?

Greetings,

I've got/inherited three SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 servers with 'I don'k know the root password(s)!`
Don't have boot and/or root recovery diskettes. The only thing(s) I have is the original boot
disk and CD (plus the licenses). I can boot the systems with either the original boot
diskette, or with my own `generic` boot diskette (has vi, as I don't know to much about ed),
brek out from the install, mount /dev/root on /mnt. Howewer, these systems had been installed
with `Traditional security`, so the shadow password file in not in /etc. What can I do to
recover/create the root passwords?
