Opinions on Supertars (SCO and Linux)

Return to Home Page

Also please see Opinions on In Place Upgrades

This page is to collect opinions on using Supertars vs. hand rolled scripts. My own opinions are strongly expressed at http://aplawrence.com/Reviews/supertars.html

Basically, I think anyone who values their data should use a Supertar.

But other folks have different opinions.

Here's a form where you can express YOUR opinion:

All fields are OPTIONAL.

Your Name

Your Company

Your webpage

Your email

Your experience (years in business, etc)

YES I agree.

RootdirSupertaropinion : Bill Brier thinks bit errors
are a thing of the past, but there are a few things
missed there: Number one, they aren't. I've seen bit
errors even on DVDRAM. rare, but it happens. Two, verify
errors can come from the hard drive or the i/o bus having
problems. Finally, and this has been the case a number
of times: bit verification has shown employees "working"
at times they were not supposed to, and in one case
helped us identify a hacked machine.
