Microsoft Windows Internals As most readers here know, I'm no fan of Microsoft. However, Microsoft operating systems are a big part of today's computer world. While I may hope for change (and I really believe there will be change over the next decade), I can't afford to ignore Microsoft entirely. Hence this book. If you have been a casual Microsoft programmer, hacker or support person, this will give you the tools and knowledge to step up.

That could be a directory (mkdir core) or a file (touch core;chmod 000 core). I've seen it suggested that a symlink named core would redirect the dump to wherever it pointed, but I found that didn't work. But perhaps more interesting is that you can do:
Understanding the Linux Kernel Once again, I'm disappointed by a Linux Kernel book. Are there any good ones at all? I'm in the minority here: Amazon loves it, all the reviewers sing its praises, so it must be only me who finds it confusing, incomplete, and annoying.
