2005/06/22 iTerm

iTerm is an alternative to Mac OS X Terminal.app. It has some interesting features, including Tabbed sessions as seen here:

One of the nice features of this is Bookmarks, which you can define under Preferences. This lets you setup an immediate ssh (or sftp) to another site without starting a session on your Mac first. You can specify different keyboard emulations, including a linux setup.

An interesting feature is the ability to send input to all tabs in a window. This could be quite useful if you administer multiple similar sites where you need to perform the same tasks. Be careful, though: this is a toggle and it's easy to forget that you turned it on.

You can set tab titles with xterm titling sequences. You can drag tabs from one window to another. There's an anti-idle function that avoids disconnection because of no activity, and a logging function that can record every keystroke you make. There's AppleScript support, too.

iTerm is a free download (donations requested, of course).
