I've disabled ftp access here. That was partly because ftp security has generally been spotty but mostly because I'm tired of people just downloading EVERYTHING they can find. There's no reasonable excuse for that; it just sucks down my bandwidth and adds to my monthly costs.
That doesn't mean you won't be able to get files you need. First, for a few important things, I've modified the pages that reference them so that you can do an http download. For everything else, you should see a notice at the top of any page with an internal ftp link:
We no longer offer ftp downloads. If there is a file you need referenced here, please contact me by email and I will get it to you.
Simple enough - maybe not instant, but simple. If I see a large number of requests for certain files, I'll make those available with http links for future needs.
I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much. It's too bad that the stupid and senseless actions of some have forced me to this, but that's just reality, right?

Unix/Linux/Mac OS X support by phone, email or on-site: Support Rates

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
