Too many people neglect their education later in life. I don't necessarily mean formal education, but I do mean having varied interests and learning new things your entire life. It's very hard in these days of specialization: sometimes it seems like all your energy is taken up by whatever it is that you do for work. But make the effort to branch out; you will be a happier and better person.

Unfortunately, even more people neglect their own health. That is a very important asset, and it is work to maintain it. Eating healthy foods, keeping your weight down, getting both aerobic and weight-bearing exercise is all very important. Many men neglect the aerobic and many women
neglect the other, but far too many of us do neither.

You can combine these things too: I just got back from 90 minutes at the gym. During the 30 minutes I spend on aerobic walking, I also read, and usually it's NOT computer related.

Invest in yourself as Sanjay suggests - you won't regret it.

This obviously doesn't have much to do with computers, but I think it is a good choice for the last article of 2003.

"My undergraduate professor once mentioned in class emptying ones pocket book to develop knowledge is something that can never be taken away from you."

How true! You never know when you may be forced to use knowledge to overcome unanticipated problems in your life. This became especially true for me after I suffered a spinal injury about 20 years ago. The injury forced me to back off on strenuous physical activity and devise ways to compensate for my lost physical capabilities (especially lifting bulky objects). Knowledge was the key and I am very thankful that at the time when some of my contemporaries in school were stuffing controlled substances into their bodies, I was stuffing knowledge into my head.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
