Well, you already know what I said to them: it's dumb, dumb, dumb.  Yes, short
term it will put more money in my pocket because I can access the blocked
articles, but long term it just does more damage to a company that has
blundered its way to near oblivion.

That kind of model makes sense if you are giving away your product or
charging very little for it.  I'd have no objection if that were the
case.  But SCO Unix is still a good pile of cash, so playing games
with the ta database is stupid.

SCO DELIVERS FIRST UPDATE TO UNIXWARE 7.1.3 WITH NEW SCO UPDATE SERVICE

SCO Update Service provides early access to new UnixWare features and
functionality through regular updates, replacing long wait between
product releases

LINDON, Utah-May 8, 2003-The SCO(r) Group (SCO)(Nasdaq: SCOX), a leading
provider of business software solutions, today announced the
availability of SCO Update Pack-1 for UnixWare 7.1.3, provided through
the SCO Update Service.

The SCO Update Service is an innovative approach to deliver product
maintenance and upgrades. Customers who subscribe to SCO Update Service
get access to the latest enhancements the moment they are available,
rather than having to wait for the normal 15 to 18 month release cycle.

SCO announced the service in December 2002, and Update Pack 1 is the
first set of new features for UnixWare 7.1.3 made available using SCO
Update Service. In the coming months, additional Upgrade Packs will be
released for SCO UnixWare, SCO OpenServer and SCO Linux customers who
subscribe to SCO Update Service.

"SCO Update Service is a convenient service that gives our customers the
choice to keep their product current and install updates whenever it
works best for them," said Erik Hughes, director of product management
at SCO. "In addition, SCO Update Service gives customers predictable
budgeting as they plan their product installations and upgrades."

SCO Update Pack 1 contains new features and enhancements to UnixWare
7.1.3 that increase scalability, improve hardware diagnostics and
recovery support, and enhance printable documentation capabilities. The
update pack also includes a robust set of product maintenance features.

Current UnixWare 7.1.3 customers who are licensed for SCO Update Service
or for SCO's Software Enhancement Service (SES) for UnixWare may obtain
the SCO Update Pack from the SCO Update download site, which may be
accessed at: http://www.sco.com/support/update/download/. For more
