The following problems are addressed in Technical Articles that appeared
on SCO's web site in the week ending 20010310.

Each problem is preceded by the URL reference to get the relevant article
from the WAIS database at caldera.com.

PROBLEM:  I have an SCO OpenServer system that is experiencing
one of the two following problems:

          1. The system panics but does not save a valid dump, either due to
insufficient swap/dump space or some other source corruption.

          2. The system hangs and does not provide any information on the
             cause of the hang.

NOTE: If the system is producing a valid dump, you won't need to
follow the instructions below; instead see TA105619, "Panic/Crash
Analysis if a dump is available".

PROBLEM:  Some of the commands that should work in scodb(ADM) do not execute.
Instead, the error message is displayed:

               expected expression

Some examples of these commands are "sysdump" and "ps".

PROBLEM:  How do I force a dump on UnixWare 7 and save it?

PROBLEM:  When logging in to SCO OpenServer, I get delays of about
30 seconds, after supplying a user name and before the
Password: prompt appears. I can also see that a ttys-t
temporary file has been left in the /etc/auth/system
          directory.

The following entries appear in /usr/adm/syslog:

failed to read terminal control database entry
             can't rewrite terminal control entry
cannot obtain database information on this terminal

PROBLEM:  Some users aren't being authenticated when they try to log on
          to an AFPS server.

PROBLEM:  I want to run the net commands from the Unix prompt, but it
complains with Error 53 Permission Denied.

     # net logon
Type your user name, or press ENTER if it is ADMINISTRATOR:
     Type your password:

By default, when you log on as root you already have ADMINISTRATOR
privilege and will be able to run NET commands. However, once you
run the "net logoff" command you must use "net logon" to log in
          again.

When I try to run "net" commands to add users, I get Error 53
Permission Denied messages.  During the logon process I received
          this error message:

You were logged on, but have not been validated by a server.
Therefore, you may not have permission to use some network resources.

PROBLEM:  The version of rtpm shipped with UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.1 is
vulnerable to buffer overflows in user input. These overflows
could lead to a local system compromise.

in Tarantella Enterprise II using the command:

     /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella admin Xfontpath --append "tcp/indus:7100"

          I get this error:
