PROBLEM: The following problems may be experienced when using tape devices
with SCO UnixWare 2.1.3:
1. Reading a file mark does not position the tape after the file
mark.
2. Tape commands do not time out even on a controller that supports
timeouts.
3. It is possible for the tape driver to get into a state where it
cannot be opened.
4. The system panics while reading DAT tapes in variable block mode.
5. With ptf4042a installed and using dd or cpio, if a tape is
opened in non-rewind mode, a block of data is read and the
tape is closed, skipping to the EOT side of the next file mark.
6. When some HBA Drivers, like Mylex or Qlogic, try to allocate
contiguous 16 - 64MB of memory, a system hang or panic can
occur.

PROBLEM: Some attempts to do block profiling on code containing unexpected
jump tables in the .text section can fail.
Also, the package "uccs - UDK Optimizing C Compilation System
Feature Supplement" version "(IA32) 7.1.1b" has a later version
of the object 'fur'.

PROBLEM: To improve performance, Tarantella will store Java archives on
the client browser that is being used. There are situations
when these Java archives need to be removed to allow Tarantella to
install fresh Java archives to alleviate incompatibility issues.

PROBLEM: Compress(1) output is corrupted when fed through a pipe. For
example, the following command-line backup of a file, using
compress(1) and dd(1M), will complete as usual:
ls file* | cpio -ocv | compress | dd conv=sync of=/dev/rmt/ctape1 obs=64k
But, the corresponding tape read (using "cpio -i") will fail with
errors similar to the following:
UX:compress:ERROR:uncompress:corrupt input
UX:cpio:HALT:Unexpected end-of-archive encountered
The file on tape will be inaccessible.

PROBLEM: The login(4) manual page states:

for all logins (overriding PASSREQ).

PROBLEM: I have a system that is running UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.1. If I run
what(1) against /bin/cc I get:
/bin/cc:
SCO Modified Binary - update711 - 10/12/99
and if I run what(1) against /usr/lib/libc.so.1 I get:
/usr/lib/libc.so.1:
SCO Modified Binary - ptf7607e - 11/01/00
However, if I install the UDK Feature Supplement 7.1.1b onto my
system, then when I run what(1) against /bin/cc I get:
/bin/cc:
SCO Modified Binary - update710 - 10/30/00
and with /usr/lib/libc.so.1 I also get:
/usr/lib/libc.so.1:
SCO Modified Binary - update710 - 10/30/00
Although the modification dates or later, the identification string
seems to be incorrect in that it is referring to update710.

PROBLEM: I have a program that prints messages to stderr, which produces a
beep. However, if the program is running on another tty or virtual
terminal, the system will still beep. For example, my program
contains the following (written in C):
fprintf(stderr, "string");
Running this program in the background on a virtual terminal,
or even via telnet, will produce beeps.

PROBLEM: When more than 9.7GB of disk free space is available, the used
and free space values are concatenated in the filesystem manager
display of both the CHARM and GUI 'scoadmin' and 'System
Administration' utilities, respectively.
The space separating the two fields has been overwritten by the
large value in the free space field.
For example, on an 18GB disk drive, the following is displayed
in the filesystem manager GUI:
Filesystem Mount Point Total(MB) Used(MB) Free(MB) %Used
/dev/root / 16865.1 1810.415054.7 11%
It should read:
Filesystem Mount Point Total(MB) Used(MB) Free(MB) %Used
/dev/root / 16865.1 1810.4 15054.7 11%
