Greetings Skunkware Fans,

I added the AOLserver, Bluebird Network Management, OpenDX and OpenSSH
projects to my Open Source CVS retrieval script, cvsget.
This version is available at:
   http://stage.caldera.com/skunkware/src/devtools/cvsget-2.6.gz

New and revised Skunkware packages uploaded over the
last few weeks include:

UnixWare 7 pkgadd datastreams
=======================================

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/apache-1.3.12.pkg
    - The current release of the Apache web server for UnixWare 7,
this package includes support for Server-side Java (JServ),
PHP, deployment on Non-Stop Clusters, preconfigured for use
with the SCO Webtop and more. This distribution of PHP includes
MySQL and GD support and has been built as a dynamically loaded Apache
module. See http://www.php.net for additional information on PHP.
This package depends on the gdbm package (below) as well as the
glibs and jsdk packages. All of these packages as well as the Apache
package are provided in a single tar archive available at
      http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/net/apache/Apache-Current.tar

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/webalizer-2.01.02.pkg
    - A fast web/ftp/squid log file analysis program

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/proftpd-1.2.0rc2.pkg
    - ProFTPD is a highly configurable professional FTP daemon

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/gdbm-1.8.0.pkg
    - The GNU database manager is used by PHP and Apache

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/xmame-0.37b6.1.pkg
    - X-Mame is the X11 graphical implementation of Mame which is
an arcade machine emulator (M.A.M.E. stands for Multi Arcade
Machine Emulator). See http://x.mame.net for more information.

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/mamecat-0.40.pkg
    - Mamecat is a M.A.M.E. Catalog/Launcher application for X-Mame
      including the (QT) graphical qmamecat.

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/cafire-0.0.13.pkg
    - This small toy displays a burning trace after the mouse pointer.
I put the following in my $HOME/.xinitrc right before starting
      up the window manager:
 runcafire input/magic2.cafirerc -back colormaps/green-r.col > /dev/null 2>&1 &
The cafire home page is http://home.zcu.cz/~cimrman3/cafire.html

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/xinvaders-2.1.1.pkg
    - An X11 implementation of the Atari Space Invaders game

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/dx-4.1.0.pkg
    - OpenDX (http://www.opendx.org) is the Open Source project
based on IBM's Visualization Data Explorer. This is the first
release for UnixWare 7 and should be considered pre-alpha as
it is only the result of my getting OpenDX to compile and install.
There are still run-time errors that need to be debugged. Any help
on this project would be appreciated.

These are pkgadd installable datastreams intended for use on
UnixWare 7.0.1 + ptf7051 + ptf7052 and/or UnixWare 7.1.x. It can also be
downloaded via anonymous ftp in ftp://stage.caldera.com/skunkware/uw7/Packages/

SCO OpenServer media images
===========================

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/lyx-1.1.5-VOLS.tar
    - LyX is an advanced open source document processor which
produces high quality, professional output using LaTeX.
See http://www.lyx.org/ for additional info on LyX.

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/Glib-1.5-VOLS.tar
    - This is the Graphics Libraries package included on the
      Skunkware 2000 CD.

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/lsof-4.51-VOLS.tar
    - An update to the latest release of lsof (list open files).
Note that this was compiled on OpenServer 5.0.5 and may
need to be recompiled for other releases of OpenServer.
The source code is available at
      http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/src/sysadmin/lsof_4.51_W.tar.gz

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/enhydra-3.0.1-VOLS.tar
    - An update to the latest release of Enhydra, an Open Source
Java/XML application server from Lutris Technologies. Note
that Enhydra is dependant on the JDK and Swing (below). See
http://www.enhydra.org for additional info on Enhydra.

  http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/swing-1.1-VOLS.tar
    - A repackaging of the Java Foundation Classes (Swing) for
OpenServer. This releases installs with the SCO Software Manager
      (/etc/custom) rather than pkgadd.

All of these are tar archives of media images suitable for installation
with the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom) and intended for use on
SCO OpenServer 5. These packages were tested on release 5.0.6 but likely
will work on previous releases of OpenServer.

They can also be downloaded via anonymous ftp in:

    ftp://stage.caldera.com/skunkware/osr5/vols/

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
