        http://www.caldera.com/cgi-bin/ssl_reference?109630

PROBLEM:  Load testing of the CD-ROM driver sc01 on a multiprocessor
computer system can sometimes panic the system.  This occurs
          because the CD-ROM driver sc01 is a single-threaded,
uniprocessing target, and during load testing sdi_callback()
may perform the target's interrupt callback on a different
processor from that to which it was bound, which will
          violate its concurrency assumptions.

The same problem could apply to other single-threaded SCSI
targets including mc01 (medium changer), sp01 (processor),
st01 (tape), sw01 (worm), and cled (Compaq ProLiant processor).
ptf4013b also addresses these problems.  (This problem should
not occur with the multi-threaded sd01 (disk) target.)

One additional issue is addressed by SLS ptf4013b as opposed
to SLS ptf4013a: under certain specific conditions, a panic
could occur in the SDI driver on system startup.  This panic
would occur in the function sdi_register().

PROBLEM:  I obtained an IHV-format diskette containing an NIC driver. However,
when I run 'niccfg' to install the driver and choose to install the
driver from the diskette, the floppy is read, but the system
          responds:

This is not an IHV diskette.  Do you wish to continue?

This problem occurs for both s5 and dosfs filesystem format floppies.

PROBLEM:  I have configured my remote network printer in Printer Manager
without errors. I am able to print and "lpstat -t" lists my network
printer. However, when I go back into Printer Manager, my network
printer is not listed. If I configure local printers
(serial/parallel) first, configure a network printer with lpd,
exit and re-enter Printer Manager, all printers are listed except
          the lpd printer.

If an lpd printer is the first printer configured with Printer
Manager, it and all subsequent printers will not be listed when
re-entering Printer Manager. All printers configured after lpd have
been used and are not listed when re-entering Printer Manager.

PROBLEM:  The System Administrator configured a remote UNIX printer (TCPIP
RLP), then configured a local printer.  The administrator tried to
configure settings for the local printer using the 'Settings' menu
of the SCOadmin Printer Manager, but the Printer Manager fails with
          an error similar to:

Unable to get complete data for 'Printer Control'
Failed to retrieve the following attribute(s) of local printer <printer>:
      ==>printerRemoteAccessStatus
      ==>printerJobAcceptanceStatus
      ==>printerJobProcessingStatus.
The object instance <printer> does not exist.

Printing to both the remote and local printers works correctly, and
both printers may be listed and administered by the lpstat(C) and
          lpadmin(ADM) utilities.

This problem does not occur with local printers that were configured
          before the remote UNIX printer.

PROBLEM:  I have configured a modem on my UnixWare 7.1.0 system to accept
          incoming calls.

When I dial into it, I am prompted for a login and a password.

After having successfully logged in, as any user (root user or a
standard account) various messages are displayed. The last one is:

             Last login: <date and time> on <tty>

          Then I am immediately disconnected.

PROBLEM:  Using the TCP/IP socket I/O function:

            getsockopt(sock,SOL_SOCKET,SO_ERROR,&errval,&len_errval)

in order to determine the status of an asynchronous connection
returns undocumented or incorrect values. Under SCO UnixWare 2.1.3,
the value in "errval" is 99 [ENOPROTOOPT] when the connection is
ready to use, which is incorrect.

Further, if the connection fails (after a timeout), the
getsockopt() function under both UnixWare 7.x and SCO UnixWare 2.1.3
will return 32 [EPIPE] which has the side effect of killing the
process unless a signal handler is in place.
