I've been playing with the Firefox 3 Beta for Mac. There are a lot of new features, the most visually obvious being the new "Mac-ish" theme, making it look more like Safari. Linux and Windows get their own special default themes also.
The feature I like the most isn't explained well in the docs: tagging of Bookmarks. Apparently they now store bookmarks in an Sqlite database, but it isn't immediately obvious how the tags are used: if you just pull down Bookmarks, there doesn't appear to be anything new. However, if you choose "Show All Bookmarks", you can add tags to your entries. Then, if you type one of your tags into the Location bar, your bookmarks that have that tag will show up as choices.
It's not just your bookmarks, though: other pages that you may have visited recently also show up if they have your keyword in their address or title. Here I've typed in "stats" and the first result is my bookmarked page, but the rest are from History.
I'm still not sure about the new look of this, though. The "old" way just shows addresses, the inclusion of titles is sometimes useful information, but it also takes up a lot more space. Maybe I just have to get used to it..
I definitely do NOT like that that it is sometimes more difficult to get to a base page: I want ww.xyz.com but history has www.xyz.com/foobar - the "foobar" is very aggressive. Also, when all I want is some page in "xyz.xom", it's annoying to see "abc.com" just because they have "xyz" in their title.
Other than that, I've had no problems at all with the beta.
