Linux

Why won't companies track Windows downtime? No effort was ever made to track time for now applications to calculate the actual cost of introduction in terms of lost productivity. It allowed IT departments to hide behind sloppy products they supply to their clients.
Support for XO computer buyers I've had two calls this week from folks who bought one of those XO computers and had trouble understanding things. In the spirit of giving, I've helped them at no charge, but I think that would be a great thing for Linux websites, forums and User Groups to do and advertise that.. it would help people who were big hearted enough to pay way too much just to help someone else out and it could also help promote Linux.
Safari 3.1 Apple's 3.1 release of Safari is available for download now (Mac or Windows, don't ask me why they don't put out a Linux version). It's advertised as "The fastest web browser on any platform", and I'm not going to argue the point - it certainly snaps right up ready for work much faster than Firefox on Mac, coming to life after two dock bounces versus six for Firefox.. on Windows the story was the same: about six seconds for either Firefox or IE to be up and running, less than three seconds for Safari.
