Subject: compiling omniorb on SCO 5.0.7

We are vertical market software developers. We are writing you because we need some assistance regarding the implementation of corba and we are hoping you could to help. I realize you charge and so after you glance at the email please e-mail or fax us an invoice so I can send you check to cover this e-mail. We looked at your web page rates and have no problem with these rates. If you are interested in the project can you give us direction as to which of your support plans would best help us port this program? If you are not interested do you know of someone with porting experience and would be interested and qualified to help us?

We are currently trying to get omniOrb 2.7.1 working on sco
openserver5.0.7.  We've got it all compiling fine but when we try
to run any of the executables we get a dynamic linker error as
follows:

dynamic linker: omniNames: invalid relocation type 184 at 0x80288000

We have the following packages installed:

python-2.3.4-VOLS.cpio
pth-2.0.0-VOLS.cpio
FSUpthreads-3.9-VOLS.tar
gcc 2.95.3 (from installation)

We've tried using both omniOrb 2.7.1 and OmniOrb 4.0.5 with the name results.

We also tried exporting LD_DEBUG=7 before running and got the
following results which might indicate a conflict between the
FSU-pthreads library and the standard C library:

rtld: _rt_lookup(__thr_errno, 0x0, 0x8008a338 0x8008d5a4 0x80479fc)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008a338)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008d404)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008d4d4)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008d5a4)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008d66c)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008d734)
rtld: _rt_isglobal(0x8008a298)
rtld: relocating __thr_errno: referenced by
/usr/local/lib/libgthreads.so, found in /usr/lib/libc.so.1 at
0x80038a60
rtld: dlerror()
dynamic linker: omniNames: invalid relocation type 184 at 0x80288000

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Not anything I can offer any assistance with, but we'll leave this here and perhaps someone else can assist. I suggest you check the Consultants list here also.
