Employment

Sales Calls for Tech folk Some of the readers here are self employed people who have to wear both the tech hat and the sales hat: you are the one who sells and performs the services of your business.

That can be a tough road to walk. You may not be "good" at sales.. or "selling" might make you uncomfortable. If this is really serious, maybe you aren't cut out for self-employment, but if it's just minor discomfort, maybe I can help.

Selling out - What do you really want? If Woz and Steve (oh, yeah, we're on a first name basis) had managed to convince Commodore to hire them, it's anyone's guess what I'd be using as a computer now, but you can pretty well guarantee that neither you nor I would have any clue who Jobs and Wozniak are. They might have made a few bucks, but it's unlikely they'd have what they made from Apple..
What did you learn today? All successful people have to be autodidacts. I don't mean that they must have ignored formal education entirely, but I do mean that they can't depend upon institutions to teach them everything they need to know. Indeed, most of what they need to know will never be taught in schools; they'll need to seek it out on their own. If they don't, they'll never be successful.

Busy week, tired, which means I won't do well at poker tonite. Kind of a Catch-22: have a slow week, win at poker. Big, busy week, nope.
