Novell is offering a free Linux Technical Resource Kit.

It's basicly a evaluation copy of all their latest and greatest stuff for building a corporate office type Linux-based networking domain. Or at least something like that.

Everything you'd need from desktop clients to groupware (e-mail, calender, etc) to server OSes.

Some of the features:

- SUSE LINUX Standard Server 8.0 (ISO Installation Images)
- SUSE LINUX 9.1 Professional (Bootable Installation DVD)
- Ximian Desktop 2.0 Evaluation (ISO Image)
- Ximian Red Carpet 2.0.2 Evaluation (ISO Image)
- Novell Linux Services 1.0 (ISO Image & NLS Companion CD)
- Novell GroupWise for Linux 6.5.1 - Server, Client & Messenger (ISO Images)
- and more...

All of it fully functional. It's evaluation in license only.

Have fun. Novell has done pretty well for the Linux community since acquiring Suse. They've developed the infamous .NET tools for Linux, Mono. They open sourced Suse's excelent configuration tools, Yast. Developed Ximain desktop (after aquiring it before buying Suse), including the evolution e-mail client, which I enjoy using. And a bunch of other stuff. All in a relatively short time.

One of the few big classic OS companies that seems to "get" the open source linux stuff (unlike some other companies). Well it looks like it so for, anyways. I find it interesting that they are planning on dumping Netware in favor for a Linux solution.

Got something to add? Send me email.

Novell has always been Unix savvy, and they had a Unix based Netware way back when (Portable Netware? - something like that). It is great to see them getting heavily into Linux.

The "free" didn't last long :-)

At this time we are not accepting any more orders. If you are interested in receiving notice of other forthcoming Linux opportunities from Novell similar to this Linux Technical Resource Kit, please e-mail us your contact information, and we will communicate with you as soon as another offer is available.
