| I have "new" HP server with a DMP on the on-board parallel port. This is a
| new install so the hardware is unproven. It seems to print fine all day then
| "poof", the jobs stop printing and line up in the queue. Powering down and
| back on the printer has no effect. Looking at the printer and queue status
| in SCO, all looks normal, accepting jobs, etc. The only way to get the jobs
| flowing again is to reboot the server. I will look at the parallel port
| settings in the BIOS the next time it happens but apart from that, I may be
| looking at a hardware issue. I was also thinking of removing and
| reinstalling the parallel port driver from the kernel, just in case
| something is wrong there. Any good troubleshooting tips out there ?

You don't remove and reinstall the parallel port driver, this isn't
windoze.

If you insist on torturing yourself and the machine with that horrid
method of printing, then fix the hardware. Start by turning off the
parallel port's enhanced features in the bios.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
