Well, my backup time is back to what it used to be. Compaq told me to issue a
"reset" to the tape drive, via the 'tape' command. I then disabled
compression, and now I am getting my "normal" speed. Not sure if I will get
the error at reboot, since I will not be able to do this until next weekend.
I never realized you had to "reset" the tape drive after changing a SCSI
setting. Learn something new every day!
