Windows 2000 printing samba

I bit more info.  Microsloth terminology has always amazed me.

A "local" printer is a printer that is locally administered.  That
means that all the windoze setup info, initialization info, and
internal settings are locally administered.  It does NOT mean that the
printer is locally attached.  It can be on a network.

A "network" printer is a printer that is shared using NETBIOS over
TCP/IP or other such Microsoft protocol.  It generally can be seen in
"Network Neighborhood" and the "net view ..." command.  Network
printers that use LPR/LPD or HPNP (direct to port) do not count as a
"network" printer.

Unix and Linux Support

LPR/LPD will work just find from W2K.  Just make sure you turn OFF the
"enhanced features" check box.  

I still think you should get a network print server box.
