For good reason. /usr/lib is probably not on your $PATH.
Try:
/usr/lib/lpshut
which cleans up the mess and removes SCHEDLOCK. Then just run:
/usr/lib/lpsched
and the schedulaer should restart. Run:
lpstat -t
to see what's enabled, accepting requests, whether the scheduler is
running, and what jobs are queued. If the print spooler failure (or your
tinkering) has somehow disabled a printer (it can happen), run:
enable printer_name
All of the printers should be accepting requests, but in case they're
not, try:
/usr/lib/accept printer_name
In case you happen to be running LPR/LPD, the:
lpstat -t
will not return remote status information. Try:
rlpstat remote-printer-name
instead. There's also a bunch of LPR/LPD related commands for manageing
a remote queue, adding and deleting jobs, that I never use and can never
remember the names.
In case you happen to be using HPNP, Netcat, or any of the manifold
proprietary remote printing mechanisms, please supply some topology
details and we can try again.
