I know all about all the common | services like sendmail/apache/inet stuff etc but not specifics on tuning and | the rather different partitioning program. Also how to creat boot disks & | stuff. Take your Linux knowledge and put it in a file cabinet. With the exception of Apache and possibly Sendmail, it will likely just get you in trouble.
You are asking too much to cover in one message, so open the Installation Guide that comes with the product and start reading. Then ask a specific question if you need more information. Resist the temptation to start editing configuration files and try "tuning" the system. OpenServer dynamically tunes most parameters and only in exceptional installations do you need to even consider it. And, if you do, don't touch it until you develop considerable experience with the system, otherwise about everything you do will be wrong. Use scoadmin and the various configuration utilities. They usually do a much better job than you can. HINT: OpenServer has a polished and solid video system, no need to start hacking around, a la Linux. Start with the VESA driver which works with virtually every video card. Later you can try other drivers if you need them for the graphical interface. -- ========================================================================== Tom Parsons tom@tegan.com ==========================================================================

This is a Unix/Linux resource website. It contains technical articles about Unix, Linux and general computing related subjects, opinion, news, help files, how-to's, tutorials and more. We appreciate comments and article submissions.
Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
