Swell.  Now I get to play salesperson.

1. Large numbers of simultaneous small jobs will sometimes deadlock
lpr/lpd.
2. For a large number of printers, netcat puts a much lighter load on the
server then lpr/lpd.
3. You can use the stock SCO spooler scripts and filters with netcat.
You can't with lpr/lpd which has a limited number of printer control
functions in /etc/printcap.
4. You have the source and can fix or add things.
5. Requires only a single socket hole drilled in the firewall while
lpr/lpd requires port 515 and a bunch of others that I never can recall.

The down side is that there are some printers where netcat doesn't work.
Of course, I happen to own one (Apple 16/600ps).

I took a random stab at the free upgrades and ordered a new cell phone. Didn't check features or reviews. Hope I don't hate it.

We'll be spending just as much on holiday gifts as we did last year: exactly $0. Doing our part to help the retail stores as we always do.
