I think I'll back up that file and try fix2000 anyway. I'll just keep a
copy elsewhere 'in case' .....unless you think it would be a bad idea to use
fix2000 in this instance.

"file nameofyourprogram" will tell you whether it's an ELF,
COFF or something else (like a shell script or just
unrecognized data).

You can use "fix2000" on specific binaries that were
compiled on older systems: see
