Robert Young propounded (on Mon, Jan 24, 2000 at 11:29:21PM +0000):
| Does anyone know how to read the 10-character SCO System ID that appears at
| the bottom of the licenseMgr manager? Since this is a unique IS for each
| system, it would be a useful method for security purposes.

I can read it with my eyes.  I don't see what that method offers for
security purposes, though. :-)

It may or may not be unique to each system, since SCO has never
disclosed, and is unlikely to disclose, how it is derived.  I find
that it will probably differ when a system is reinstalled from a master
backup tape onto a different hard drive.

IAC, if the question you meant to ask was, "is there a command to return
the System ID?", the answer (until it stops working) is "brand - I".
