The driver for Adaptec 7899 chips is "ad160" and is included in OSR506 and 507. The driver for the Intel SRCU32 is "iir" and is included in 507. > It looks like with some minor tweaks the board will work with 5.0.6. Does > 5.0.7 provide better support for this hardware? Support is under development. Out of the box, 507 supports this hardware better by having the "iir" driver built in. The driver for the onboard Intel NIC is called "eeG" and hasn't been released from SCO yet (early Intel releases are floating around out there; we haven't been able to get them to pass our NIC test suites yet). When "eeG" is released by SCO, it will apply to 506 as well as 507. When hyperthreading support is released, it will apply only to 507. Also note that to use 506 on any P4-family CPU, you must install at least rs506a and oss648a. So for full support, it's:
OSR506 + rs506a + oss648a + "iir" [ + future "eeG" - no hyperthreading
support forthcoming ]
OSR507 [ + future "eeG" + future hyperthreading support ]

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
