Why do you *ASSUME* that an HP printer utility will work with a Xerox

This is a bogus error message which really should say:
"Cannot communicate with printer on port 9100"
The HP printer utilities only work with genuine HP printers and with print
server that talk on port 9100-9102.  No clue where your Xerox 225 printer
wants to talk.  You can edit the port number(s) with instructions:
        http://aplawrence.com/cgi-bin/ta.pl?105327
These are made for tweaking the spooler scripts for the 3 port print
servers, but will also work for setting the port numbers to something other
than the HP defaults.

Your other alternatives are to use lpr/lpd.  Search:
        http://stage.caldera.com/ta
with the keyword "lpr" for instructions.  Be sure to only run "mkdev rlp"
once, or you will have a mess to deal with.

Another option is to use netcat.  See:
        http://www.cruzio.com/~jeffl/sco/lp/
This will "cat" a file to any arbitrary port number.
