can't mount cdrom

thanks- worked out- had a music cd in my drive!

Not working on my case. My config is vmware 6.0 guest system Red hat Enterprise Server 5.

Error message below:

[root@your-0cdc4f5844 dev]# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

[root@your-0cdc4f5844 dev]# mount -r /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

Of course VMWare may be complicating this - can you even

od -cx /dev/cdrom

And is /dev/cdrom linked to the appropriate device?

By the way, a Google search for "vmware can't mount cdrom" turns up a lot of stuff, including
