An interesting project, particularly in light of Gmail. The description at Lurker:



After being subscribed to interesting mailing lists, lurker archives all 
incoming mail into a database. Old mail can also be imported. Once mail is 
in the database, lurker can help you search the unending noise for those gems 
you need to read.


That's exactly how I've been using Gmail with the mailing lists etc. that I subscribe to: scan 'em quickly and archive 'em so they'll be there when I am searching for something later.

    @loudmouthman: correct, but how do you prove ANYTHING like that is accurate? You can't. A text file is no better or worse than anything.

    @loudmouthman: well, a digital signature could prove it hadn't been altered. Text is no more insecure than anything else in that sense.
