I've been using Firefox 0.9 as my main browser for both Mac and Windows for a few days now. As the version number suggests, this is still a "Technology Preview" release, but don't let that stop you. This hasn't bit me yet - whatever glitches or bugs exist, I haven't stumbled across them yet.
I LIKE Firefox. Earlier versions of Mozilla were attractive enough, and the regular Mozilla 1.7 release is a darn good package too, but this keeps getting better and better.
What I particularly like about Firefox is its "extensions": capabilities that aren't built in, but can be easily added if you want them. I do mean easily; it's as simple as pointing at what you want installed. All I wanted so far was the RSS reader panel, but there are many more tweaks and functions to choose from, ranging from the useful (dictionary lookups, search tools) to the amusing . The point is that you keep your browser as mean and lean as you want to, and aren't confused and cluttered by features you don't need or want.
Migration from (ugh!) IE or any Mozilla browser is quick and complete: all your bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings pop right over - no pain.
Tabbed Browsing, popup blocking, and more. A nice Introduction to Firebird (Firefox's previous name) will get you started if you've never used anything but IE.
