Microsoft devotes an extraordinary amount of attention to small resellers. Free training, low cost software: it is really impressive. It is interesting to note that the wooing of resellers has intensified as the threat from Linux has increased: Microsoft knows darn well that these are the people most likely to deploy Linux solutions. Even if they don't convert everyone to the Redmond way, they are giving the tools and training to the people who will be competing with Linux for customers.

Is that why they keep sending me all that junk (snail) mail imploring me to become a registered system builder? I'd be afraid to hook up with them, for reasons that I can't quite explain. Must be just unreasonable paranoia on my part, I'd guess.

    @loudmouthman: correct, but how do you prove ANYTHING like that is accurate? You can't. A text file is no better or worse than anything.

    @loudmouthman: well, a digital signature could prove it hadn't been altered. Text is no more insecure than anything else in that sense.
