Bob Bailin explained in comp.unix.sco.misc:
The SUS Enabler license is *only* a license; no software is installed. It *must* be registered with SCO to enable it, at which time another license is installed on your system to actually enable the service.
Update 1 is *not* necessary.
Update 1 is new features, mostly new shells and a new wd driver that supports disks > 137GB. (The wd driver will also be available from the SCO ftp site at no charge.)

The hyperThreading support added in Update 1 is really nice.
It converts your P4/Xeon into a Dual Processor - you do NOT need an SMP licence for a SINGLE cpu. If you already have a dual P4/Xeon it gives you a quad.
