The 6.0 version of Mitel's SME server has been released. I'm off on vacation, so haven't had a chance to install on my own server, but everything that used to be in the Security Plus product has been rolled into the base system. That includes virus scanning, web access control, spam control, web based group ware, free/busy Outlook sceduling and more. At $895.00 a year for 25 users (which includes REAL support), this is a great bargain.

I've talked about why I like this product before, but it never hurts to go over it all again. First, while all the technical power you need is there, you can leave day to day administration to ordinary, non-geek users. If you, as the technical person, want to add features, the product does everything possible to let you do that: you are not limited to what it does out of the box. If you want to customize firewall rules, again, you can do this without interfering with the ability to upgrade.

But the big thing is support. The support starts with me, your reseller. If I can help you immediately, I do so: that's included in your yearly cost. If the problem is beyond my knowledge, I escalate it to Mitel. Often they respond to me by email within minutes and your problem is fixed. Again, that's all in your yearly price.

Sometimes a problem requires that someone (me, a Mitel engineer or both of us) log into your server to research or fix the problem. Once again, that level of service is INCLUDED in your yearly subscription. You really do not get this level of service nowadays, but you do with this.

Consider a 50 user system: for less than $2.00 per month per user, you get virus and spam protection, web access control, all the other features, AND this incredible level of support. You just cannot beat that, and that is why I sell the SME server over everything else I have looked at.
