$500.00 to find a security bug is an attractive offer, especially when you consider that folks who look for these things do it for free now.
Mozilla wants to find the bugs, and also calm the fears of those who may have been upset by last month's unfortunate Firefox bug.
Maybe Microsoft should do something like this - assuming they have enough money to pay off all the bounties. I guess they probably do, but it might be close..
