Some readers, I'm sure, will recall that in days past, AT&T had a subsidiary company named Unix System Laboratories (USL), whose purpose was to administer UNIX intellectual property rights. As a legal entity, USL officially ceased to exist when Novell acquired the rights to UNIX from AT&T in 1993. Now, some ten years after the fact, SCO is attempting to revive the Unix System Laboratories name.
I don't know about you, but in my opinion, SCO's attempting to trademark the USL monicker is nothing more than another attempt to create a new revenue stream via lawsuit. I certainly hope the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office denies the application. In any case, I expect that both AT&T and Novell will loudly object.

I would hope that the patent office doesn't do a rubber stamp on this..
