Try it, you might like it

The founder of Pete's Wicked Ale didn't like the taste of beer. Moreover, when he did acquire a taste for beer and started home brewing it, his only intention was to do that as a hobby, not a business. Finally, when he did decide he wanted to start a business, he didn't at first consider brewing at all.

Sometimes we stumble our way to success in spite of everything.

But as Louis Pasteur said, "Chance favors the prepared mind". When you read stories of people's business success, they are often filled with important little accidents that might have caused failure had they not happened as they did. You might sometimes think that it's all luck, that you could work your tail off and not make it just because you never caught any "lucky" breaks. And that's true: bad timing and circumstances beyond your control can grind your face right down into the dirt and keep it there. But.. if you are constantly alert to opportunity, if you are prepared to act on opportunity when you notice it, you have a much better chance at success than the person who isn't ready, who doesn't pay attention, who doesn't act.

The path isn't always straight, and it isn't always easy to see. If you aren't seeing any path right now, keep your eyes open and keep on walking. You may find nothing at all, but if you aren't looking, you definitely won't.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
