I've actually been thinking about this for a while, but a complaint by a regular reader caused me to implement an "ad free zone" here at APLawrence.com.
It's simple enough: the most recent 3 posts carry no "in-line" ads. That's it: as new posts come in and old posts fall out of the top they'll pick up ads.
I think there's little reason to show ads to regular readers anyway, and I know that ads annoy some people. Unfortunately, ads also pay the bills, so I won't be taking them off the site entirely unless someone wants to send me a very large pile of money to make up for the loss. No? OK, but the offer stands..
If you really hate ads, you can avoid them pretty easily. For example, if you are running Firefox, you can use the "No-Script" plugin to selectively block Javascript - that makes most ads invisible to you. At one time I had found a link that did the same thing by applying a Custom Style Sheet, though that's gone.. Adblock does similar things.
Here, the "Printer Friendly Link" strips out all ads also. You can read with RSS or at http://aplawrence.com/Blog/fullstyle.html and never see an ad (but again, that is only recent pages) or even use Lynx.. and I'm sure that there are dozens of other ways to escape those awful ads.
I don't block ads myself. They don't annoy me on my site or anyone else's, but we are all different, so I'm willing to offer this small respite from crass commercialism.
I hope this makes at least a few people happy, and that we don't have anyone that so loves ads that they want them put back!
So, if you are reading this while it is still "recent", you won't see ads. If you've arrived here later, well, that's different: the ads will be here. Head to our "Latest" link to get to the new stuff.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
