Major Site Crash

We had a major site crash at 9:15 this morning and were down most of the day. When they brought it back up, two years worth of posts were missing, which shows the folly of depending on anyone's backups but your own.

Of course I pull daily backups to my own server and I think I have most everything restored now, but if anything odd happens, please do let me know.

They tell me that they backup weekly, so the tech must have accidentally grabbed an old backup set..

The other silly thing was that they were sending me updates on their progress all along, but sending them to my aplawrence.com address (yes, they have my gmail account) so I never saw them until it was back up.

All very stressful.

Having trouble with Feedburner since the crash.. feeds are out of date.. FB is regularly picking up the feeds and I am updating them but they aren't updating at their end.. I just now "Resynced" - hope that works..

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
