Linux Companion

This book really impressed me. The author (Jochen Hein) has packed an incredible amount of information into 572 pages and has done it clearly and enjoyably.

This is neither a beginner's guide nor an in depth look at Linux internals. It is an intelligent "in between" book, assuming some knowledge, but still providing good levels of detail. The long time Linux user propably won't find much new here, but for those of us coming from other Unix platforms, this is a good overview.

There are a couple of books out there with a similar title, so be careful.
