Unix/Linux/Mac OS X support by phone, email or on-site: Support Rates
This is a Unix/Linux resource website. It contains technical articles about Unix, Linux and general computing related subjects, opinion, news, help files, how-to's, tutorials and more. We appreciate comments and article submissions.
Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.

Try using the newer ad320 driver found at:
ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/507/drivers/ad320_1.1/
(also works for 5.0.6).
It would be helpful in posts like this to make note of the
equipment you're trying to install the OS on.
Also, search for "bootlocore" on this site and see whether
either of the two resulting articles apply to your situation.

Thanks Bob - I wish people would try search before posting, or if they have searched, say so and say why it didn't help..

Also, if possible, turn off video and BIOS shadowing and caching. Neither is of any benefit in the SCO environment once the kernel has been loaded and started and, in some cases, will prevent a successful installation when using BLTD's.

Check BIOS settings for a choice between 512KB and 640KB of low memory (exact wording varies in different BIOSes). If the setting exists, make sure it's set for 640KB.
If that doesn't help: boot the CD, enter:
Boot
: smallmem link=ad320
I'm not sure if "smallmem" is the right name. If it isn't recognized, use "ls" at the boot prompt. There are two or three kernels (files named "unix*") on the boot CD root directory. One of them is the small-memory kernel, might be "unix.smallmem" or "unix.notebook" or something like that. Whatever its name is, use that as the boot string, omitting the "unix." part (e.g. "notebook link=ad320").
