Words I like seeing

Sun Feb 8 12:40:57 GMT 2004 Words I like seeing

I had written about Poker School Online (link dead, sorry) having a Mac client, but I was even more happy to find they have a Linux client too. Here's what they have to say about it:

For the Linux, Other UNIX, and Windows (without VM) installers to work you must have already installed Java on your system. It can be downloaded from here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html. Java 1.3 or higher is required (Kaffe will not work under Linux - run "java -version" to check what you have installed). The client is known to run perfectly well under Linux, as that is the environment used on a daily basis here for development purposes, but is not supported. If you have trouble getting it to run using the above installer, please post here and I will do my best to help you.

Thanks for the link for the Linux program, Tony. It works fine on my desktop at home (RH9, with j2sdk1.4.2)

Just downloaded the client and it seems to work fine on my Debian machine. (Unstable with Java 1.5)

Won't install but gives error message, "...No Java virtual machine in your PATH.." yet j2re1.4.2_08 is installed in /usr/java as per the rpm. Any comments appreciated

You should take it up with them - their support folks seem to be pretty good and interested in helping.

I'm running Linux (Ubuntu Breezy Distro).

I have WINE installed but have no idea what to do or how to install the Pokerschonline software.

Any idiot proof instructions.

I do have it installed on my Dual Boot windows partition which I have mounted, but have no idea what to do.

Many thanks in advance.

Andy

Ask them. You don't need Wine for this.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
